Hi Guys from now on mirror orders in different geometrical forms are possible :) I have created a new thread for this so that this information in the existing thread for the orders will not be overlooked. The conditions can be found in the picture below. You will continue to receive all existing edges including geometric shapes polished, if you want. ;) The orders themselves continue to run on the respective thread. If you are interested, please deposit a note in “additional comments” and send me a drawing of your desire ;) Best regards Chriz [image: 1509386127794-special-format.jpg]

@sdetweil in the end I followed your advice and used some mechanical, metal clips to connect the mirror to the back panel. I’ll show the final result soon!

@Alannow apologies for the delayed reply, I somehow missed the email notification that there is a new reply in the thread. Here is the graph of the humidity in my bathroom for the past month: [image: 1745501958118-1a718a83-5bb4-4367-9395-e85faf184011-cleanshot-2025-04-24-at-16.37.48@2x-resized.png] the mirror stands strong in such conditions 4th year now … As to the foil … it can be cut in any size and shape, but there are limitations in the shape of the mirror, so please share your idea so I can check if is feasible or not :) The rough estimated shipping to Germany is ~ 25 EUR

@karsten13 Hello, I’ve given up. I’ve tried the following. I created a new image, currently only available for the Rock-F2. A Debian Bullseye Desktop LXDM display manager (Debian Xfce) without an X server. I’m currently using an RPi 3 again, and I’ve managed to get everything working. Thanks very much for your support. @BKeyport OK, thanks for your viewpoint! Than I‘m on the right way - still works today :-) Temperature was 45°C today in the morning - was at 56° everytime before … So even passive cooling seems to be much better. Nice rest of weekeend to all of you. Ralf

Very nice. I have done something similar, although I prefer the Pi 3 Model A+. It’s slightly bigger than the zero 2w but is clocked faster (1.4 GHz vs 1) and has a full-size HDMI port. (they both use essentially the same SoC). Note I have historically had problems with running out of memory running electron in the 512 MB limited memory space - but using dietPI has really help stability

@acdacd2 Hi! I just found a quote for this product from a local supplier. I was wondering if you (or anyone else here) had experience with it.

@redink For better daytime visibility, go with an LED or OLED display with high brightness and good contrast. A commercial-grade high-nit display or an IPS panel with anti-glare coating can also help reduce reflections. Adjusting brightness and using a high-quality two-way mirror with better light transmission can further improve readability!

@plainbroke look at free -m i dont think you are using all the memory its cpu cycles, the mode engine is single threaded, with all kinds of ‘hacks’ to make it more like multi-threaded. but a cou bound task can still block others

@mediahypno I guess to get both - easyness and cheapness is not possible… As far as I have seen pictures around and read several comments here in this forum I got the impression that best result will be with glass - this is kind of expensive. The cheaper version with Acrylic is not that “brilliant” and there are may some restrictions in the viewing angle. The least expensive so cheapest version is the foil - this is the far most complicated one because you have to apply the foil on some kind of Acrylic or glass which often fails due to bubbles, scratches, dust or whatever. I definitely wanted to go for glass. In the meantime I have decided to build up a “Magic Signage” not a mirror. This is caused by the fact that the already build up prototype is present since several weeks in our living room and we visit this beauty several times a day. So the final version will stay nearby - at least in the living room and a mirror at this place doesn’t make any sense to us. (initially planned was to replace the mirror in the hallway but this becomes obsolete for the above reasons) HTH, Regards, Ralf

@BKeyport Thank you very much for the info! I’ll experiment with HDMI sleep to avoid cutting the power off entirely, or blank when not in use but for that I’m a bit worried about power consumption… If anyone else has any specific monitor recommendation (or some simple way to get panels too would be an alternative!) I’m all hears

The ReSpeaker 4-Mic Array is currently out of stock everywhere. Spent quite a while researching on the forum and elsewhere, before posting this. I believe it’s one of the best microphones for MM integration with voice control. Are there any similar or better alternatives available?

@Wendy 12v from power supply to both display and converter in 5v from converter out to pi with the appropriate pigtails for wire to device connectors as needed you could also power the pi thru the gpio pins

@Frossion1996 Hi, Im using this Sensor: Temp2IoT A little “build yourself” but the result is perfect. I’m using an iFrame to show it on my mirror. With the Arduino IDE is was also able to adjust it a little bit to my belongings (transparent background and a little size adjustments). This project is really amazing. In the summer I can directly see in the morning if I can jump directly into the pool. Chris.
